Editing

We’ve seen it all and edited it all, from creative writing to technical writing. We love helping build out stories from scratch but, when necessary, we are also sticklers for organization, clarity, story arc, even micro – yet important! – topics like passive and active voice.

Coaching

It takes courage to engage your creative self when you've been away from her for awhile. To dig deep and start sharing your work with the world. When you come to us for coaching we focus on the areas where you want the most help: structure, voice, plot, or even just getting started.

Retreats

Treat yourself to a writing retreat and tune out everything that keeps you from focusing on your writing. Join us in The Basque Pyrenees of Spain, the Pocono foothills of Pennsylvania or Maryland's Catoctin Mountains for a portal into the natural world and yourself. Join us and tap into your creativity, strengthen your craft, and build community with other writers.

Submitting

Feeling underwhelmed about pitching and submitting your work for publication? Let us take that on with our copyediting, proofreading and submission services.

What Our Clients Say About Us

Diana has taught me to trust my voice and encouraged me to move beyond my comfort zone.  She challenges you to develop areas–be it dialogue, character, plot – clearly and smartly so your story will soar. The seriousness with which she engages fosters trust right from the get-go. My work with her is life giving and priceless.

Anne E. Wild-Rocheleau, PhD

Diana is a great diagnostician. The gentlest of nudges from her transformed my writing from multiple rejections to acceptances and being listed in Notable Essays of the Year in Best American Essays. She has an uncanny way of getting into the mind of the writer, understanding what you are trying to do, and ushering revisions forth.

Sue Eisenfeld, Shenandoah and Wandering Dixie

Valerie has decades of experience helping writers do their best work, and she also finds entities interested in publishing in the writer's genre. I write essays about life in the South. Val located the right home for my story and submitted it to a contest that was the perfect place. My piece won best story for the month.

Barbara Gordon

What a magical week of writing and community and reflection! I've attended two of Diana's retreats and found both deeply nourishing and inspiring. During both curated craft lessons and one-on-one conversations, Diana is attentive, sensitive, and supportive of each writer's needs and has a gift for creating warm and safe community.

Now Val prides herself on writing a pitch-perfect pitch and matching client work to the right outlet.

Diana Friedman
